Among the caves dug in the heart of Mount Epomeo ancient Ischitans, wise farmers, began the production of wine with the methods of their fathers, among them was grandfather Francesco Mattera, in dialect nicknamed "Raustella" which means lobster because his cheeks were always bright red in color. In his winery until the age of 90, he continued to produce the wonderful "nectar of the Gods," handing down its secrets and passion to his family and future generations who preserve the precious memory. Today the winery is a place where tradition and innovation live in harmony. A winery capable of telling the past, present and future of the Mattera family. Completely restored by his son Giuseppe, a lover of antique objects, it is a magical and unique place that has become a treasure chest of ancient agricultural traditions where the structures necessary for winemaking are enhanced and many antiques as well as ancient tools collected over the years that are an expression of the history of rural life in Ischia and beyond are on display.
